Within a few years, Chris had grown the Run Concierge Program from a handful of hotels to more than 200 run concierges around the globe. The running community took note, as Westin would go on to win "Best Overall Hotel for Runners" two years in a row.
Westin created unique experiences for its upper middle class demographic who wanted to remove the hassle of travel leading up to a race and have fun doing it.
The success of runWestin allowed Westin to naturally become a part of any conversation about wellness in travel.
With Chris on the ground at mass participation races around the United States, Westin was able to observe the pulse and trends of running. Building relationships all across the country lead to countless television appearances and references in travel pieces, or in the words of Marriott International’s joyful analytics team, earned media.
This holiday allowed Westin to turn its thought leadership into action by giving back to runners every year. In 2017 "Sweatworking was the new networking." Then in 2018 everybody was "plogging," and if you know what any of that means, congratulations, you’re a runner!
On the strength of the brand’s visibility in the space, content creators began to seek out Westin for collaboration, as in “The Mebsie” created with Runner’s World.
